Decoration Day

Memorial Day, which was originally called Decoration Day, was set apart to honor the fallen soldiers of the Civil War. Well over 100 years and an act of Congress have passed since those initial days of honoring American soldiers for their ultimate sacrifice. Through the course of time and several American wars, more than 600, 000 American soldiers have died during wartime. 

This year Memorial Day is on Monday, May 29, 2023. Death, loss and painful adjustments are the realities that many families have had to face. Around our nation, the land of the free and brave, many families will remember and honor their fallen soldiers. Perhaps, as the shock of loss has subsided, they might be able to celebrate the life of their loved one and the time they were allowed to have together.
