  • Delicious!

These tamales are perfect! Since I've stopped eating pork, it's been difficult for me to find tamales that have the same texture and great flavor that I crave. These tamales check both of those boxes and their consistency in size and meat-to-masa ratio make every bite as delectable as the last.

What surprised me most was how perfect they were after making a small slit in the vacuum-sealed bag and microwaving them for a few minutes. This was faster than steaming them, the same texture was maintained, and I didn't have to turn my kitchen into a sauna to prepare them. (For those who need warning labels on everything - They will be hot after microwaving since you effectively steamed them in the bag, so let the bag settle for a few minutes before cutting it open.)

If you happen to like them spicy, I also ordered the habanero variety of this tamale and they had the same mouth-watering goodness with a bit of a kick.

    Highly recommended!

These tamales are almost as good as the ones my grandmother made from scratch in Brownsville, Texas. She always put slivered almonds, grated carrot and green peas in her chicken mix. These are almost as delicious!

Tamale Reheating Instructions

For steaming, remove tamales from bag, and place in a hot steamer for 15-20 minutes from a thawed state (5-10 minutes more if frozen)

For oven baking, preheat oven to 325. Remove tamales from bag, wrap in foil, and place them on sheet pan. Bakwe 15-20 minutes if thawed, and 20-25 minutes if frozen.

For microwave, cut a hole in the bag. From thawed state, heat one bag at full power 3-4 minutes. If frozen, heat at 50% power 3 minutes; turn the bag over, then heat at full power for 1-2 minutes more.

You may be able to boil the tamales in the bag. However, we cannot recommend this method because dry ice may thin the bag in transit, and when placed in boiling water, it can leak and fill with water. If you choose to boil in the bag, we cannot be responsible for leaks. If you boil in th bag, you'll have to watch the bag to make sure it doesn't leak.
